Welcome To The Circus of Quercus, California-Style!

This site is a work in progress and an act of love.

Feedback is welcome - some of the information presented here is based on a limited dataset, so please consider all recommendations provisional. If you have contradictory experience with these species, please let us know! And, please remember, results with these trees will vary widely in California’s bewildering array of microclimates. If you know of more unusual oaks in California, particularly from arid parts of the world, or trees with acknowledged drought-adaptation, we will be delighted to incorporate this information.

If you are interested in trying some of these oaks in your local urban forest, please let us know. Many of these trees are now being propagated in limited quantities, and are available for contract growing.
