Survival rates monitored by UC Berkeley students,as part of an urban forestry doctorate project. Tree size and health have been monitored. Among all container trees planted in 2007, overall survival rate is in excess of 95%. All container trees had rootballs massaged to eliminate circling/girdling roots to some degree. Rootball massage only recommended for plantings in the fall and early-/mid-winter, the best times to plant trees in California.
